School Installs 3-D 'Girl' to Slow Traffic

A school in Canada are working on a school safety project allowing drivers to see a 3-D illusion to slow down in the appropriate zones. The appearance of a girl running into the road as she chases a ball. The "girl" is actually a 3-D illusion painted onto the road. The image is suppose to look like a 3-d figure when the driver approaches the painting.

There is also a sign to go along that says, "You're probably not expecting kids to run into the road." As you pass the girl the image appears to emerge to the ground as a regular painting.  Discover Magazine said "designers created it to give drivers staying at the recommended 18 miles per hour enough time to stop before hitting the "girl." police will be monitoring the girl to see how drivers will react to this test to see if it works so they can further invest and have these paintings in more areas.

The foundation's David Duane said the image shouldn't cause accidents. "It's a static image," he said to ctvbc.ca . "If a driver can't respond to this appropriately, that person shouldn't be driving and that's a whole different problem." If the girl works they are planning to have virtual bumps in neighborhoods so they can prevent speeding in residential areas.

The Girl image is practical and as shown in earlier studies very efficient. I also think if the experiment is successful then very should go world wide with this, this can prevent accidents and people just driving safe in general. Not only images of kids but they can have a better design to have a more efficient out come. Over all i think this is a persuasive obstacle that should work and be place world wide.
